Hancock Library serving ‘A Side of Gumbo’

Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St. in Hancock, will host the exhibit “A Side of Gumbo” from Dec. 6 to Jan. 7 in the Daniels Room. The exhibit features artwork by Byron Levy, a New Orleans artist with ties to the Monadnock region.

An opening reception will be held Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a presentation at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit includes works reflecting Levy’s Southern roots and his studies with watercolorists Edgar Whitney, Milford Zornes, Bob Woods and Dong Kingman. Curated by Ron Levy, Byron’s son, the collection includes paintings, drawings, sketchbooks and illustrated memoirs.

The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours of Monday and Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 603-525-4411 to confirm availability before visiting.
