Firelight Theatre Workshop in Peterborough will present its new show, “The Interventionists,” opening Friday, Oct. 18, at The Firelight Studio, 70 Main St.
Following the performance, attendees are invited to a champagne and dessert reception with the cast and creative team.
Known for unscripted performances, Firelight’s “The Interventionists” is performed by eight rotating actors, with only five on stage each night. The play has no script – actors build characters through improvisation, creating different performances each night.
Co-founders Jason Lambert and Nora Fiffer emphasize that while each performance is different, the set, lighting, music and entrances remain structured. Actors will play their same character in each performance, but that character will say and do different things each night.
Fiffer stated, “ ‘The Interventionists’ ” has wonderful characters, full of history with one another. We build our characters and relationships with specificity and preparation, which allows the story to unfold naturally and unexpectedly. It’s scary as an actor to not know what’s going to happen next, but it’s freeing, too. We are so present with each other and listening hard.”
“We are building a set,” stated Lambert. “There will be lights and music and entrances and exits and action and reaction. It’s still a play. Just no script.”
The show runs through Nov. 10.
