Despite several reported lightning strikes in the area, no injuries or major damage was reported after  thunderstorms passed through the region Tuesday evening, although hundreds were left without power.

As of Wednesday morning, the Peterborough Plaza was reporting no power or internet services, with some businesses operating on a cash basis.  The Peterborough Fire Department reported no major issues aside from a temporary disruption to the mutual-aid dispatch system.

“Everything was handled by cellphone, and it was all fine,” said Laura Merzi of the Peterborough Fire Department.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Eversource, a power outage was still affecting part of the RiverMead campus, Peterborough Plaza and homes in south Peterborough and Sharon. More than 100 people had been affected by the outages, but by noon Wednesday, that number was down to 30 in Peterborough.

Antrim still had 473 people without power as of noon Wednesday, followed by 78 in Rindge, 36 in Greenville, 33 in Wilton and 27 in New Ipswich. Francestown, Greenfield, Hancock, Jaffrey, Lyndeborough, Mason and Sharon were in the single digits, and Bennington, Dublin and Temple did not have any outages.
