Police responded to multiple incidents involving a total of six cars, including a three-car crash, at an icy curve of Route 202 on Tuesday morning.

At 7:12 a.m., police responded to Route 202 by the manufacturer D.D. Bean for a report of multiple cars off the road, according to Jaffrey Police Lt. Christopher LaBrecque.

The report was related to three separate incidents, according to LaBrecque – a single car that had slid into a guardrail, two cars that had a minor collision with each other and a three-car crash that required all three vehicles be towed from the scene.

Road conditions were a contributing factor in all three cases.

“It was very icy,” LaBrecque said.

According to LaBrecque, the car that hit the guardrail and the two-car collision were both minor. The driver who struck the guardrail had minor to no damage and was allowed to leave the scene, and the drivers in the two-vehicle crash exchanged insurance information before also being allowed to leave the scene to allow officers to address the three-car crash.

In that crash, 2012 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Amber Chamberlain of Rindge was traveling east toward Peterborough when Chamberlain lost control and sideswiped the guardrail, sending her into the westbound traffic lane.

Chamberlain’s vehicle collided with the rear of a Ford Transit van driven by Jonathan Parkerson of Jaffrey. As the two vehicles pulled over to address the accident, a third vehicle, a 2004 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Fontaine Melus of Jaffrey, lost control, crossed the lane of traffic and collided with Chamberlain’s vehicle.

Melus was taken to the Monadnock Community Hospital by ambulance for evaluation, but no serious injuries were reported at the scene, according to LaBreque.

All three vehicles sustained damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The road was closed for a short time while the accident was cleared, and the state Department of Transportation was notified and responded to salt and sand the area.
