Monadnock region nonprofits benefited from the largest NH Gives event ever this year, with thousands of donors contributing to the 24-hour statewide online fundraising event sponsored by the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits June 11 and 12. 

Peterborough’s Cornucopia Project brought in the seventh-highest number of donations in the state. Cornucopia, which was founded by Kin Schilling in 2005, raised $23,456 from 317 donors in this year’s event. Cornucopia Project was also awarded two bonus prizes for its fundraising efforts -- $5,000 for winning  the “Power of Community”  challenge in the medium-size organization category, and $1,000 for receiving the highest number of individual donations between 5 and 6 p.m. on June 11. 

“We have been at this for seven years, and we are really getting it down,” said Cornucopia Project Operations Manager Natasha Meehan. “It’s a whole team effort; we have an amazing group who work really hard.” 

Cornucopia Project Executive Director Lauren Judd credited the group of Cornucopia board members, former board members and other supporters who led this year’s efforts in the “peer to peer” fundraising event.

“On behalf of our board and staff, we would like to thank the hundreds of kind donors who contributed to our cause during 2024 NH Gives. I am also grateful for the NH Center for Nonprofits, which supports organizations like ours with this and other opportunities. Congratulations to all whose work has been made possible by this day of giving,” Judd said. 

Kate Hart, a board member of the Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter, said MATS was thrilled to have beat its 2024 fundraising goal. 

“We surpassed our fundraising goal of $15,000, achieving an impressive total of $18,196 – our highest amount to date,” Hart said. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous and supportive community, whose contributions were instrumental in this achievement. Additionally, we appreciate the awareness NH Gives brings to nonprofit organizations throughout the state.”

Hart noted that MATS relies solely on grants and the generosity of individual donors, churches and businesses,  and does not receive any federal or state funding.

“Contributions during NH Gives are crucial to our success and impact,” Hart said. 

In Dublin, 23 donors raised nearly $2,000 for the Dublin Community Center.

“The DubHub is a spectacular place to be for anyone of any age who loves the arts, music, wellness and learning, and above all, for making connections personally, as part of the larger community, and the communities within communities,” said Monica Laskey, director of the Dublin Community Center. “These funds will be such a huge help to us in keeping the DubHub going.”

Laskey noted that the DubHub just celebrated its 10th anniversary on Friday, June 14. 

Steve Jackson, director of The Park Theatre in Jaffrey, said NH Gives is a critical component of the theater’s annual June fundraising push, and that the timing works well as the event falls at the end of the fiscal year. 

“It was very successful day for us, and we raised over $6,800 this year. NH Gives is a wonderful initiative of all nonprofits in the area,  and we are so appreciative to the NH Center for Nonprofits for putting this together every year,” Jackson said. “This event is one of the hallmarks of our annual fundraising and a very major support for us.”  

According to a statement from NH Gives, more than $3.28 million was raised for 649 participating New Hampshire nonprofit organizations. Nearly 13,500 individuals contributed between 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12. NH Gives is an annual event that has raised more than $18 million for nearly 1,200 New Hampshire nonprofits since it was created in 2016.

“NH Gives continues to be an important platform for New Hampshire nonprofits to showcase their missions and raise critical funds to support them,”  Kathleen Reardon, CEO of the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, stated.
