The Kingsnakes will be playing July 21 for a “Sundays at 4” free concert on the lawn of the Francestown Old Meeting House.
The musicians will play American jazz/folk roots music from the 1920s and 1930s, with some calypso and island tunes thrown in. The Kingsnakes’ music reflects their work in jazz and blues and the roots of American folk music with such artists as Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton, Jimmy Rodgers, Louie Armstrong and the Memphis Jug Band. They have opened for acts such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker and Savoy Brown.
People can bring picnics, lawn chairs or blankets and dance from 4 to 5 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will move indoors.
The Kingsnakes will also be performing Wednesday, July 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of the Antrim in the Evening series at Memorial Park. The band consists of Steve Brown as “The Rattler” on drums and percussion, Richard Doherty as “Dr. Slidewinder” on ukulele bass and lap steel, Mark Reynolds as “Brer Cottonmouth” on trombone and vocals, Andy Chapman as “The Blacksnake” on clarinet and Woody Wood as “The Watersnake” on acoustic guitar.
