A Hancock man and his passenger both died in a single-car motor vehicle crash Friday.

According to a release from Lyndeborough Police Department, the department was notified of a rollover crash on Forest Road (Route 31) at Buck Road at approximately 12:48 p.m. An investigation determined that a 2001 Porsche Boxster operated by Robert Wilfand, 74 of Hancock, was traveling north on Forest Road when it went off the road and rolled over onto its roof after hitting a utility pole.

Wilfand’s passenger was 18-year-old Marie Emmeline of France. The Lyndeborough Fire Department was first on the scene, and determined that both Wilfand and Emmeline had died.

Members of Troop B of the New Hampshire State Police, Wilton Police Department and Greenfield Police Department assisted in the investigation. The crash is still under investigation, but according to police, speed does not appear to be a factor. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lyndeborough Police Department at 603-654-5469.
