Cannon part of Lyndeborough Veterans Day ceremony

Lyndeborough honored veterans at itsannual Veterans Day on Saturday, including the Lafayette Artillery Company's 1844 six-pound brass cannon being fired three times. Veteran David Gill, of Lyndeborough, fired the antique cannon. Gill also drove his restored 1953 U.S Army Jeep to the observance held at Center Hall. The Jeep was used in the Korean War.
Other guests to honor veterans by firing the cannon were Mike Mize of Milford, who served in the Army from 2005 to 2014 and brought his two young children to the observance. Lyndeborough resident David Matuszek, who donated a print of the 1844 Civil War-era cannon he developed using an antique method called cyanotype, also fired the cannon. Refreshments were served after to the 40 guest who attended.
