Recreation met repurposing at Hancock’s Winter Frolic on Saturday, as families gathered behind the Meeting House on homemade sleds made of cardboard.
Juniper Thurston’s family enjoyed the day, coasting down toward a frozen Norway Pond, where Select Board member Jeff Brown was keeping a fire to warm attendees.
“In summer, we had Old Home Days and in winter this – I love Hancock,” said Thurston.
Ice skating and indoor crafts were also part of the event.
Justin Berry’s daughter Annabelle had fun on the hill.
“Crotched is really nice, but this is less expensive,” said Berry.
After two hours on the hill, Evan Morris’ sled made out of cardboard and duct tape was still holding up.
