A 17-year-old from Dublin died Saturday after the electric scooter he was riding was involved in an accident with a car.

According to a press release from the Jaffrey Police Department, the department was dispatched at 1:10 p.m. to a head-on motor vehicle accident on Dublin Road near Gilson Road involving a car and an electric scooter.

As a result of the crash, the scooter rider sustained serious injuries and was flown via helicopter to UMass in Worcester, Mass., where he died from his injuries.

According to police, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation, but an initial investigation has suggested there was no inappropriate driving by the operator of the car, 22-year-old Dennis Jewell of Jaffrey.

The Jaffrey Police Department was assisted by the Dublin Police Department, Jaffrey Fire Department, Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, Peterborough Ambulance, and UMass Life Flight.
