If living with a disease that is likely to take us down in the next six months, should we not have a humane and legal way to embrace death on our own terms?
As the sun broke through Jan. 20, over 120 community members gathered at Reynolds Hall, All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Peterborough, to celebrate the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Hancock Conversations on Race Group thanks all who participated, commemorating King’s call to justice and the “beloved community.”

A group of New Hampshire senators wants to tighten rules around cellphone use in schools.
While much of President Donald Trump’s attention since his return to power has been focused on perceived threats in this hemisphere, the Russia/Ukraine war grinds on in a bloody dance of incremental yet inexorable Russian advances in the east and persistent drone and missile attacks by both sides. Many believe that the combatant countries may be reaching a level of military and societal exhaustion with the conflict, giving hope to the possibility of substantive negotiations for an armistice on the horizon.
The Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St. in Peterborough, will host an open house hearth cooking demonstration on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monadnock Community Hospital has established the Patricia Boyd Nursing Scholarship, honoring the late Patricia Boyd and supporting hospital employees advancing their nursing education.
Peterborough Town Library, 2 Concord St., will host its monthly writers’ open mic on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the 1833 Room. The event, open to writers of all ages and genres, is organized by Monadnock Underground, a community of local writers publishing work online and in print.
Richard Hartshorne (known as Dobbs) will perform Bach’s "6 Solo Suites for Cello" on the double bass Sunday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Mariposa Museum, 26 Main St., Peterborough.
